beefing

Basically whatever happens to irritate me. Probably quite trivial but then why not? After all, the First Admendment says I can (but then the new Supreme Court may change that...)

Here is an interesting
comparison
of drivers in the US of A verses drivers in Germany. Let's face it folks, on the whole, American drivers suck! But, given the pathetic lack of public transportation in the good ol' US of A, who are we supposed to get around but for the private automobile? For example, when I left for work this morning at 3:47 am, would I have been able to get a bus had there been one in town? (Not a chance!)

I've got to admit it: I used to think I was a world class driver until I realized that I live in a small town and have trouble dealing with heavy traffic. In October 1999, my wife and I were in Washington DC. We entered the beltway and got into the lane that we figured would lead to our turnoff. We were crusing at about 15 mpy above the speed limit, with the car behind us close enough to be drafting off us and our car a half length behind the car ahead of us.

We were terrified! There were people around us eatting lunch, talking on cell phones, listening to headsets, trying to read maps and it looked like one person was reading the newspaper! The irony was that ten years before, we had lived near Washington DC and had gotten used to this level of traffic. We weren't any more!
