beefing

Basically whatever happens to irritate me. Probably quite trivial but then why not? After all, the First Admendment says I can (but then the new Supreme Court may change that...)

There was a boy in Eugene Oregon who was severely beaten. The school system ignored this physical abuse for about a year before the victim's parent's were forced to sue the school system. More details are
here!

The school system says they have done all they can to make a safe school environment [or words to that effect]. However, I've written the school superintendent and deputy school superintendent asking about this and have never gotten a candid reply!

My sister-in-law lives in Eugene and told me this boy's parents had to sue because the school system was refusing to act. I find that completely believable!

I was bullied in Junior High school and I know damn well that "my" school counselors knew who the bullies were...

I discussed this with the superintendent of "my" local school system and ventured the opinion that applying the "board of education" to the gluetious maxs of bullies would cut down on the violence. She agreed but also said that would be illegal.

SIGH! Little kids can be expelled from school for having an aspirin tablet in their pocket and budding authors suspended for writing stories that scare teachers (what of that child's First Amendment Rights?) but a bully can beat the crap out of a fellow student and get away with it!

Depressing, ain't it?
