beefing

Basically whatever happens to irritate me. Probably quite trivial but then why not? After all, the First Admendment says I can (but then the new Supreme Court may change that...)

Here are the first two paragraphs (quoted in the spirit of "Fair Use"):

CHICAGO - Brain scans of teens with a history of aggressive bullying behavior suggest that they may actually get pleasure out of seeing someone else in pain, U.S. researchers said on Friday.

While this may come as little surprise to those who have been victimized by bullies, it is not what the researchers expected, Benjamin Lahey of the University of Chicago, who worked on the study, said in a telephone interview.

I started this blog years ago in response to reports of bullying, horrific responses to bullying by victims (Culinbine {sp}) and my general outrage that schools are allowing bullying to continue. e.g. the USD445 School Superintendent told me that kids who are physically attacked in her schools will be expelled regardless of the circumstances. That is, those who fought back would be expelled for fighting and those who did nothing in self-defense would be expelled for being in a fight!

I replied to Dr. Davis by saying "then the bullied victim might as well fight back!""Oh, no," the good PhD replied, "then they could really get hurt!"

Well, folks, not fighting back hurts a whole hell of a lot worst. The pain of a punch in the nose fades in a few hours if not a relatively short number of minutes. The pain to the soul, the damage to self image never fully heals. So, fight back!

Let us not forget Columbine, that rat's nest that lead to one of the worst school trageties in history.
