beefing

Basically whatever happens to irritate me. Probably quite trivial but then why not? After all, the First Admendment says I can (but then the new Supreme Court may change that...)

When thety keep going on and on and on about that Orientaol Asshole who filmed himself before murdering those people and you just wish the "media" would shut the fuck up about him and talk about the true victims, then just say:

When the Muslims keep shouting "you must respect Islam" after one group of Muslims kills another group of Muslims or a group of Christians or a group of Jewish or simply a group of ordinary people, think of what you want to say!

When the Muslims violate the Koran's Rules War by

  • killing girls or women in spite of girls and women being non-combatients
  • killing men over the age of 39
  • killing boys under 17
  • killing boys or men ages 17 to 39 (inclusive) who were definitely combatiernts
  • Committing suicide by actions that must sure destroy their own body in spite of the Koran's prohibition of suicide
then maybe you might get some relief by yelling:

PPPPPPP II SSSSSSSS SSSSSSSS OOOOOOO FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF

No More Years!

I remember being appalled by Conservatives refusing to acknowledge that William Jefferson Clinton was our President. After all, I accepted James Earl Carter, Ronald Wilson Regan and George Herbert Walker Bush as being my President even though President Carter seemed ineffective, President Regan was too conservative and I thought that George H.W. Bush was far too interested in Foreign Affairs and not interested enough in U.S. affairs.

I once considered myself a Conservative, a Goldwater Conservative until the Republican Party went too far to the Right and the agenda became too much a religious one and not enough of States Rights and helping all the people!

I am finally sympathetic with those Right Wing Republican Conservatives of the Clinton Years:

I can not bring myself to acknowledge George Walker Bush as being my President; if I have to, I refer to him as "The Incumbent" and to my family, I call him "El Presidente"! (He does like to speak Spanish, doesn't he???)

Days of Remembrance...

MEMORANDUM FOR ALL COMMERCE EMPLOYEES

From: Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez

Subject: Holocaust Days of Remembrance

More than one million Jewish children were among the six million European Jews killed by the Nazi regime and its collaborators during World War II. Only a small fraction of Europe’s Jewish children survived, and often it was because of the heroic efforts of men and women of great courage and compassion.

Children in Crisis: Voices from the Holocaust”is the theme for the annual Days of Remembrance, which will be held from Sunday, April 15 through Sunday, April 22, 2007.

The annual Days of Remembrance, established by Congress in 1980, remind us to be eternally vigilant against bigotry, hatred and indifference. As the Yiddish poet Yitzhak Katzenelson wrote, “The first to perish were the children…From these a new dawn might have risen.”

For more information about the Days of Remembrance, please visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum website at www.ushmm.org.

Ode To Bill

Ode to Bill
(reminisces of an meeting he "chaired")
Smooth words, flowing like honey, gentle
like diarrhea, before your anus gets chaffed.
Words dulling the senses, blinding the mind
till you're lost in a world of sounds.
Dulled, dazed, mesmerized by gentle words
lacking inflection, passion or breaks.
Agreeing with anything said: yes yes!
YES! manning as blindly as a cult member.
Fearing to fall asleep, wondering why not;
praying I've not sold out totally!
Poor zombie! Dead to the world, hoping, praying
the coat of honey colored dung will wear off.

Don IMUS and the FCC

If I remember the FCC regulations from:
  1. getting my CB base station in 1968,
  2. my Novice Licence in 1974,
  3. my 2nd Novice license in 1981 and
  4. and my "Plus" licence around 1990,
there were three (3) relevant regulations. These regulations forbid broadcasting material that is:
  1. indecent,
  2. obscene or
  3. profane
Don Imus' remark was not "indecent", "osbcene" or "profane". It was simply a stupid thing to say. There are no FCC regulations forbidding stupid remarks. You can make your own list of "talking heads" who should be grateful for this!

It was legal even if it did piss off a lot of people and was both gratious and unwarranted.

Regardless, the market has spoken, Imus was shitcanned and it is time for the FCC to remain silent!

On a different subject, when are Rush and Anne going to be nailed for hurtful remarks?

about Don IMUS

Imus' remarks about that basketball team was horrible. If I had a daughter or niece on that team, I would be infuriated. I'd want revenge justice. Those young women did nothing to deserve Imus' attack.

The idea that these girls are the ones getting hate mail or threats is even more outrageous! These young women were the victims in this matter and should be getting sympathy not misdirected blame!

On the other hand, Imus should have been allowed to stay on the air. After all, isn't it our Christian Tradition to allow people to repent, reform and demonstrate they have changed? Doesn't this demand that Imus be allowed to remain on the air (radio or TV) for a while.

So why did he did fired by CBS and MSNBC?

The advertisers pulled out. Imus was a cash cow and if the cash cow died then the only reasons to keep him on the air are:
  1. tax break (which they don't really need)
  2. defiance of the advertisers (like that's ever going to happen?)
The advertisers pulled out from fear of losing customers. The idea that big business has a conscience is absurd. The bottom line is all that matters. I've a quote from David Drake:
"There is nothing about ruthlessness that a Soldier can teach a 'good' businessman." [or words to that effect]
This is the quote as best I can remember it and may be a bit of a paraphrase.
